How to Install 800 GPH Automatic Boat Bilge Pump #BT6188

How to Hardwire a Bilge Pump to a Battery (Quick Guide)

  • Tools Needed:
    • Drill
    • Phillips Head Bit
    • Silicone Glue
    • Wire Crimpers
    • Wire Connectors
    • Wire Terminals
    • Red Wire 14 Gauge
    • Black Wire 14 Gauge
    • Heat Gun
  • Steps to Install (reference video link):
  • If hull is not 1/2 inch thick, install 1/2 inch marine plywood block
  • Glue block to lowest point in the boat with silicone
  • Mark screw locations and drill pilot holes on the block
  • Screw Baseplate to the block with provided screws
  • Insert Bilge pump into the pump mounting base until it *clicks*
  • Wiring the Bilge Pump (reference video link):
  • Disconnect battery terminals
  • Strip negative/positive wires to prep for splicing
  • Place both positive wire (brown) and auto-positive wire (brown/white) inside connector
    • Crimp wires to connector
  • Add positive wire from battery to other side of the connector
    • Crimp wire to connector
  • Heat shrink connector with heat gun for waterproof connection
  • Place positive wire inside terminal
    • Crimp positive wire to terminal, and heat shrink
  • Add negative wire to connector
    • Crimp negative wire to terminal
  • Add negative wire from battery to other side of the connector
    • Crimp negative wire to terminal
  • Heat shrink connector with heat gun for waterproof connection
  • Place negative wire inside terminal
    • Crimp positive wire to terminal, and heat shrink
  • Add positive and negative wire terminals to battery and tighten
  • Test the Pump (reference video link):
  • Twist the "Test Knob" clockwise until it *clicks* and the pump engages
